In January this year, we welcomed a new member to our senior team as Andrew Weston joined Damia Group in the role of commercial director. With over 2 decades’ experience in delivering measurable digital transformation through people and technology, Andrew brings a fresh energy, deep sector knowledge and a passion for helping businesses unlock their full potential.

As he settles into the team, we caught up with Andrew to find out more about what led him here, what inspires him, and what he hopes to achieve as Damia Group’s new commercial director.

How and why did you get into the digital transformation sector?

My passion has always been about helping business leaders and owners drive measurable, meaningful transformation in their organisations. That means helping them accelerate growth, achieve cost savings, streamline processes, and gain a competitive edge.

Since I started my career in 2001, I have worked with — and founded — several businesses focused on providing technology solutions that make real impact. For me, it’s never been about technology for technology’s sake. It’s about real outcomes. Tangible change. Making things better for people.

Tell us about a moment in your career that really stood out to you.

One standout chapter was launching my own tech platform, i-Procure, in 2019. I self-funded the business, designed the technology, and brought it to market — it was a huge personal and professional achievement.

The platform was designed to help procurement leaders improve and transform the performance of their teams. Within just 12 months, I’d successfully partnered with several public sector organisations, delivering cost savings and performance improvements by helping teams better track and monitor procurement activities.

The impact was very positive. Helping those teams reduce the risk of procurement slippage and drive measurable outcomes was incredibly rewarding. It reminded me of why I got into this space in the first place — to make a difference.

What are your hopes or predictions for the future of the tech transformation industry?

Looking ahead, I see major shifts continuing in the way businesses deliver digital transformation — particularly when it comes to flexible staffing.

I believe staff augmentation will become increasingly popular. Organisations want to move fast but without taking on unnecessary risk. That’s where firms like Damia Group come in — helping clients scale up quickly by providing the right people at the right time.

More businesses will start building strategic supply chain ecosystems, leaning on trusted partners for specialist talent and capability. It’s an exciting time to be part of that conversation.

What’s the biggest myth about your industry — and how would you bust it?

AI is definitely the topic of the moment. There’s this growing myth that AI will eliminate the need for people. But the truth is, people are still at the heart of every successful implementation.

Some of our associates are actively working on AI-related projects right now — and are proving just how essential that human expertise is. Someone needs to develop, implement, adapt and optimise AI solutions. We see AI as an enabler, not a replacement.

What are your key strengths — and how do you apply them in your role?

That would have to be an ability to listen and having a strong commitment to honesty. Every partner is different. That’s why we always start by listening — really listening — to understand their challenges and goals. Then we can build a tailored solution that actually fits.

When a solution isn’t the right fit, we’ll say so. Being honest builds trust. It might not win you every deal, but it earns long-term credibility — and that’s far more valuable.

Who or what has most inspired you in your career?

My father has been a huge influence. He set up his own business and showed me the importance of resilience, creativity and doing things your own way. That definitely shaped my own entrepreneurial journey.

What attracted you to join Damia Group?

Having run my own ventures and led commercial strategy for multiple tech-focused organisations, I wanted to bring that same spirit of drive and innovation to a company that was human-focused, not a faceless entity. The people-first mindset Damia Group has felt like the perfect fit from the first interaction. The team listens before they act and have built a long-standing and successful business on forming strong and honest relationships with partners and associates. It instantly felt like my natural home.

Thank you, Andrew, and welcome to the team!
