SDET Software Developer in Test – SC Cleared – London – £450 per day – 3 months +
Software Developers in Test (SDET) Testers required for an application delivery project. Project is complex, integrating a number of database types and specialist products with custom middleware/API/front end
Primary responsibilities for this position include reviewing software requirements & specifications, then designing, implementing and troubleshooting automated and manual test strategies/test cases/suites
Your designs will include identifying user scenarios, establishing quality criteria and creating test harnesses that will allow complex testing to be performed at code or API level. Injectors and scripts will be required for functional and non-functional areas of testing
You provide high quality reporting on product readiness and verify proper testing coverage and procedures both independently and collectively in a team environment
- You will be responsible for the full test automation lifecycle, ensuring test standards are complied with, creating, executing and reviewing test artefacts including test scenarios, specifications, automation scripts and test data
- You will produce test records and reports, contribute to defect investigations and perform peer reviews of your colleagues’ test outputs
- You will be able to design test scripts in modular fashion to facilitate re-use and maintenance
- You will also have experience of test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, NUnit
- An understanding of software development languages such as .NET, C#, Javascript (Angular, Node, express)
- You will also have experience of working with Microsoft Technologies – Dev stack and Azure environments
- Experience of working within co-located and distributed teams models
- Any DevOps experience is a plus (Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Full software development lifecycle experience – 3+ years of monolithic (Waterfall, V-Model) and 2+ years of Agile (e.g. – Scrum, Kanban, DSDM, XP) development methodologies with recent emphasis on automated software testing
- Experience of modern test automation tools (e.g. – Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber, SpecFlow, Postman)
- Experience operating GitHub build tools and Continuous Integration / Delivery
- Exposure to Microsoft Technologies such as SQL, IIS, Team Foundation Server (TFS) & Windows
- Ability to specify and create tools, test harnesses and automated scripts to increase efficiency
- An aptitude for testing, with initiative that can be applied to different testing scenarios depending on the needs of the project, and a self-interest to learn current & new testing methodologies, techniques and approaches.
- Expertise in areas of testing such as BDD, TDD, Model-based Testing, Test Automation and/or UI Testing would be preferred
- Track record of complex problem solving in a multi-disciplinary team with the tenacity to speak up and drive action in times of ambiguity
- Experience of HTTP analysis using open-source tools such as Fiddler & Charles
- 2-3 years programming experience in one or more of the following common languages:- Java and/or C# coding experience
- We would need a person with relevant programming experience to demonstrate their coding ability with a view to being responsible for the running of the existing frameworks, maintenance, and extension for the future needs
DESIRABLE FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL SKILLS
- ISTQB certification
- Debugging and code inspection skills
- Experience with Windows application platforms
- Experience with Atlassian’s Jira, Confluence, Zephyr and Microsoft Azure DevOps
- API testing experience and knowledge of tools for API testing
- Experience of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery
- A good working knowledge of consuming RESTful services, XML, and JSON
- A good working knowledge of Windows PowerShell
