**Network Operations Centre Team Leader – Computer Support and Services**

**£40,000 – £50,000 + benefits – Croydon**

Job Description:

A rapidly growing MSP seeks a Network Operations Centre (NOC) Team Lead to head up their team. As NOC Team Lead, you will be responsible for day to day support and overall well-being of the Croydon based NOC. Another key focus will be managing both internal and external faults and be responsible for escalations from customers in addition to the project teams.

The ideal candidate will be very hands-on with a technical background; good knowledge of routing, switching, and firewalls across multiple vendors is required. You will be working very closely with the Network & Platform Design Team, with the expectation that you will mentor more junior team members if required as well as liaising with suppliers and vendors.

This is a fast-paced environment, requiring applicants to be flexible in terms of the resolution of issues, team leadership and prioritising work and tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage 1st, 2nd and 3rd Line NOC Engineers.
  • Liaise and work closely with Network TDAs, Project Managers and Customers.
  • Be able to resolve complex WAN/LAN issues across multiple vendors and customers.
  • Perform maintenance on the company and customer networks out of hours as required.
  • Support other staff members with escalations or issues.
  • Report to the Network Operations Manager regarding problems or issues detected.
  • Be able to understand High/Low Level Design Documents and interpret them for support purposes. • Potentially participate in an on-call rota.


  • Engaging with customers, project teams, NOC and Network TDAs where required.
  • Provide technical network focussed assistance to other team members where required.
  • Maintain the professional reputation of the department to our clients.
  • Work with the rest of the department to ensure that we remain on-curve for developing our services and performing improvement works.

  • Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Network Troubleshooting (ideally within a Service Provider environment).
  • Current JNCIA, CCNA or HCNA Route/Switch certifications.
  • Good working knowledge of Layer 2, Layer 3 protocols and best practices.
  • Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbally.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Availability to respond to needs of the customer.
  • Good knowledge of internal and external routing protocols – OSPF / BGP / EIGRP / IS-IS / EIGRP / RIP.
  • Knowledge of VPLS / MPLS / RSVP-TE / L2VPN P & PE node configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience of understanding technical documents and leading a team.


  • Experience using Solarwinds monitoring platform or other similar product.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Nexus 5k and related technologies including Fabricpath and VPC+.
  • Experience working in a service provider environment.
  • CCNP (or equivalent) qualification.

Level of Autonomy and Decision-Making:

The individual should be able to manage their workload as well as their team and ensure that the correct tasks are prioritised. When resolving issues, the individual will need to ensure that all relevant parties are kept abreast of the status. The individual will also have a level of decision making for resolving fault tickets and advising of improvements to the Network Operations Manager.

The performance of this role will be measured against the following KPI’s:

  • Client satisfaction
  • NOC team well-being.
  • Resolution of fault tickets (when required).
  • General NOC statistics (open/closed tickets).
