As a DevOps Assistant Manager, you will lead a team responsible for the full CI/CD pipeline which sits in the critical path of client-impacting product delivery in the cloud. The team engages in the design, development, testing and support of the automation software, test cases, and environments. The team engages in a high degree of collaboration across a global team of Business Analysts, Product Owner, Architects, Quality Engineers, and Feed Developers.

The DevOps Assistant Manager will be accountable for the team’s delivery and quality of prioritized projects to enhance CI/CD pipeline capabilities. They will also be expected to model our company’s values and hold the team accountable for the same.

A successful Assistant manager will be a hands-on leader, contribute personally to all areas of the development lifecycle, and coach the team toward continual improvement. They will have excellent technical competence, develop a strong understanding of stakeholder requirements, an outstanding collaborator, and have a high degree of commitment to service.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead a small, co-located team in delivering CI/CD pipeline enhancements and fixes in an AWS environment utilizing best practices and technologies such as python, Jenkins, REST, GraphQL and DynamoDB.
  • Evaluate team and individual performance through regular 1 on 1s, quarterly connects, and end of year performance reviews.
  • Foster a team culture of high performance and open collaboration.
  • Providing ongoing support to pipeline stakeholders and working with team to urgently address any issues impacting product delivery.
  • Collaborating across teams to identify and prioritize DevOps requirements.
  • Collaborating within the DevOps team to estimate, design, and plan delivery of projects.
  • Assisting with identifying and proposing technical initiatives that reduce cost, simplify infrastructure, and remove technical debt.
  • Leading and participating in scrum activities and code reviews.
  • Continually learn new technologies and skills that can be used to improve our processes and solutions.
  • Evaluate team and individual performance through regular 1 on 1s, quarterly connects, and end of year performance reviews.
  • Foster a team culture of high performance and open collaboration.
  • Recruit for open positions by interviewing candidates and making hiring decisions.

You’ll bring:

  • A passion for leading teams to leverage best in class automation technologies to increase the pace and quality of product delivery.
  • A proven track record of technical leadership either formal or informal.
  • The technical competency and curiosity to constantly research new technologies and develop new skills to deliver practical solutions.
  • Effective leadership skills to collaborate across teams and functions to help identify requirements, communicate vision, and build roadmaps that ensure we meet stakeholder’s needs.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and deploying DevOps solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience in architecting solutions in AWS
  • 2+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Terraform.
  • 2+ years of experience developing and supporting CI/CD solutions using automation technologies such as Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Experience with project management tools such as JIRA.
  • Experience using Agile methodologies such as Scrum.
  • Experience building and managing VMs and containers.
  • Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs is a plus.
  • Experience with DynamoDB is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
