Devops Lead / Telford / 6 months / £600-£700 ppd

Summary of the role:

Case Management Delivery Group is establishing 3 Platform Delivery teams who will undertake the end to end lifecycle delivery for solutions to the client. Within the Platform Delivery Team the Dev Ops Lead will report to the Platform Delivery Manager and be a member of their Leadership Team. They will be responsible leading a team of Dev Ops Engineers who will work closely with other technical teams in deploying code, providing operational support for new and existing perform functions required for the deployment, configuration, support, and troubleshooting of issues with the business’s site/software.


  • You will ensure the team adopts a consistent approach to the DevOps activities embracing up-to-date practices based on optimising the use of automation throughout project delivery and service operations.
  • You will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of DevOps activities through continuous process improvement
  • You will undertake the Line Management of a mixed team of junior to more experienced personnel, providing support for them to grow their capabilities and acting as a mentor/coach where applicable.
  • You will encourage the principle of self-organising teams within an effective governance framework with a risk based approach to provide high quality software in a cost effective and timely manner
  • You will have accountability for the adherence of quality assurance, DevOps Processes standards across the DevOps team and act as the escalation point within the team
  • You will ensure Release or Service Development and Test Approaches are produced, maintained, conform to Delivery Group standards and are followed by the team
  • You will support the front-end process; including validation of the delivery approach and estimation
  • You will work closely with the Delivery Architecture team to ensure compliance to the various architectural definitions and strategies

You will encourage the development and sharing of good practice and promote on going contininous development.

Essential Knowledge, Criteria and Skills

  • Experience with DevOps and Agile Delivery Frameworks.
  • Extensive experience in developing and leading IT delivery staff in a large, complex IT environment
  • Demonstrable experience in leading multiple teams across multiple locations
  • Experience managing usage enterprise level monitoring and operating Systems Administration skills: Unix, Linux and Windows.
  • Proficient in a diverse set of programming languages i.e Shell/Powershell/Python/Perl/Java/Ruby
  • Experience with leading a team who are focused on integrating pipeline toolsets, triggers notifications, deployments, orchestration
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Confluence, JIRA)
  • knowledge of influencing performance and ability to tune
  • Has a deep understanding of how business processes are integrated with IT services and the challenges involved in doing so.
  • Proactive, strong leader who has a proven ability to collaborate with staff at all levels.
  • Good communicator with strong presentation skills.
  • Mentoring and Coaching of less-experienced staff to pass on knowledge.

Desirable Knowledge, Criteria and Skills

  • Experience of working with Pega and/or Documentum in an agile environment.
  • Has an understanding and knowledge of how IT architecture impacts delivery processes and quality.
  • ECM Practitioner certification
  • Has a working knowledge of agile and Lean concepts as applied at scale;
  • Holds the values of the Agile Manifesto and applies the principles behind the Agile Manifesto.

  • Understanding of SQL and NOSQL technologies
